August 26th is National Dog Day! This is a time to celebrate the unconditional love that our dogs bring to us, and spread awareness about all the dogs that are out there just waiting to be adopted into their forever homes.

Dogs are every bit as a part of the family as people are, and we want to share our dogs with you! Here are the four-legged stars of The Stokes Group.

RHINO

Not only is Rhino adorable, but he’s also a TV star! Lauren, our Team Assistant, spotted him on NBC4 during their Animal Welfare League’s “Clear the Shelters Weekend.” After his TV appearance, Lauren immediately applied to adopt him and took him home the very next day! Rhino is now king of the castle and enjoys every minute of being spoiled rotten.

JAMESON & STOLI

Our Buyers Agent, Taylor, is proud mom to two rescue dogs, Jameson and Stoli. Taylor’s cousin fosters dogs for Operation Paws for Homes, and thought Jameson would make a great dog for her and her (then) fiancée.

It wasn’t long before they decided that Jameson needed a buddy. They took Jameson with them to check out potential friends, and he immediately bonded with a black and white pit bull. Stoli came home with them from the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia, and has been best friends with Jameson ever since!

ARGUE

Unfortunately, our dogs can’t stay with us forever, but we still love them long after they’re gone. Our Marketing Coordinator Colleen, had a dog named Argue who passed away about a year ago. He lived a long and full life, and is remembered for being super smart and funny.

STAY TUNED

Our Lead Buyer Agent, Dana, is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her Bernedoodle puppy. This breed is half Bernese Mountain Dog and half Poodle – they don’t shed, are very social, and love affection. Dana looks forward to hanging out in local dog parks and snuggling with the new pup! Potential names have been narrowed down to: Maverick, Oscar, and Biscuit. Which gets your vote?

YOUR DOG AND REAL ESTATE

Having a dog can actually be a selling point for your home—no, really! 65% of American households include pets, up 9% since 1988. This means lots of buyers are looking for homes that are pet-friendly. Although it’s best that your dog not be in the property during a showing, evidence of your dog (its bowl, leash, etc.) show that your place is already a happy home for a canine, and can work for their own pooch as well.

Lucky for us, the Washington, D.C. area is a great place to own a dog – we’re loaded with dog parks and dog-friendly buildings and restaurants. If you’re looking to buy a place that will be a happy home for you and your dog, or looking to sell to someone ready to give their pups a great place to live, contact us at: Anslie@TheStokesGroup.com, or call 202-270-1081.
