The much anticipated news is finally official. Amazon is coming to National Landing (Crystal City) in northern Virginia – and Long Island City, NY. After much speculation and intense competition, the announcement was made today, confirming reports from The Washington Post from November 3rd.

Many people suspected Amazon HQ2 was bound to end up in the DMV since the company’s CEO and founder, Jeff Bezos, already has a home in the area, and owns The Washington Post.

Besides bringing roughly 25,000 jobs to the area, and (more) traffic, Amazon’s arrival also triggers changes to the real estate market. Beyond Crystal City itself and the northern VA area, D.C. will surely feel an impact, with many Amazon employees looking to live within The District. We did a market analysis prior to the announcement – and it’s even more valuable now that the news is confirmed.
