Rock Creek Park is an 1,800-acre nature lover’s paradise that runs through the heart of Northwest Washington. Picturesque and serene, this urban park filled with historical sites, lush foliage, bridges, streams, and wildlife is the perfect location for a long walk, bike ride, jog, or even a slow drive to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city without leaving it.
Gargoyle hunting at the Washington National Cathedral is a whimsical adventure. See if you can find all 112 of these stone carvings which not only protect the Cathedral from dark forces, but are waterspouts that protect it from water damage.
Catch a fast-paced chess match at the DuPont Circle and then head out to Massachusetts Avenue where you can take a walk to admire spectacular Embassy Row.
The National Zoo, founded in 1889, is one of our nation’s oldest zoos and does not charge admission. Be sure to visit Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, on loan from China until 2020, these pandas and their son Bei Bei, born in January 2016 are the star attractions of the facility.
