Construction is coming to Lafayette (again)!

PlayDC was the first major initiative in 2014; it ushered in a massive renovation of the playgrounds and splash area that are a part of Lafayette Park (not a part of the school).

Lafayette Elementary School underwent a building-wide renovation beginning in 2015 that included expanding the footprint of the school, relocating and renovating all 4 of the playgrounds and repairing the areas around that school that were used as a swing-space during the renovation.

Lafayette Recreation Center is the small and dated building adjacent to the tennis courts and basketball court in Lafayette Park. Most park patrons use the Rec Center for the bathrooms and there is some programming offered in the building after school. This building and the immediate surrounding area is slated for renovation in 2019.

Join DPR, DGS, and Shinberg Levinas Architecture for a community meeting and discussion about the project.

At the meeting, the architects will present updated plans for the modernization, based on feedback from the community meeting in September.
